The Message

The big questions. What it is, what it isn't, and what your people will do with it.

01Will my people quit their jobs after this?

No. This isn't a quit-your-job talk, and I say that from the stage. Money matters. Careers matter. Our jobs are usually a big part of our dreams, and our coworkers often become some of the most important people in our lives.

The problem isn't having a job. It's expecting the job to replace everything else, and putting the rest of life off until someday. You don't need to quit to run the marathon, learn the guitar, or finally take your dad on that trip. People who do those things show up better at work, not worse.

The best evidence is that companies keep bringing me back. Deloitte has booked me 8 times. Hilltop Securities has booked me multiple times. Allianz booked a second event the same day I spoke.

Here's how I'd put it to your leadership team: would you rather your people believe they have to leave to build the life they want, or that they can build it while working for you?

02What will people actually walk away with?

The talk is entertaining, personal, and powerful, but the real goal is that every person walks out with something to do, not just something to think about.

  • A clear reason to stop waiting, backed by my 20,589-person study.
  • Four simple tools they can use the same week: Identify what matters most, Audit where their time actually goes, Schedule the smallest first step, and Share it with an accountability partner.
  • A commitment made in the room. Before they leave, people text their goal to someone they trust and block time on their calendar. Fifteen minutes counts.
  • The free Make Someday Today Toolkit: 15 exercises, available by scanning a QR code during the talk.
  • Frameworks leaders can take back and use with their own teams and clients.
03Is this just another motivational talk?

It isn't a bumper sticker, and it isn't a bucket list talk. It's more like a manual for making the most of your time, at work and at home.

Most people in the room already know what matters to them. The problem isn't knowing. It's doing. So every story in the talk builds toward a specific action people take before they leave, plus tools to keep going afterward.

04Will it be entertaining?

Yes. I used to do stand-up regularly at places like the Hollywood Improv, and in 2026 I rebuilt the keynote from the ground up with new stories and a lot more laughs. Most of the jokes are at my own expense, starting with being voted most likely to become a wedding singer in a Bon Jovi cover band.

The humor is what earns the serious moments. People laugh the whole way through and still leave with a plan.

05Will our people relate to it? Not everyone can travel the world.

That's exactly why it works. My bio is a highlight reel, like most people's. The talk covers the hard chapters too: failures, setbacks, burnout, and loss. People see themselves in it.

When we asked 20,589 people what they valued most, the answers weren't big, expensive adventures. They were everyday things: weekly card games, visiting relatives, annual road trips, playing an instrument. The goals that matter most don't need to be big, and it doesn't matter if you're 25 or 85.

06Isn't a talk about regret a little heavy?

It's an uplifting talk, not a sad one. I open with a Memento Mori chart, 80 boxes for the years in an average life. Most people assume it's about the fear of death. I reframe it: it's about the joy of life, and putting the right things in the empty boxes.

It's like a day at Disney. You know the park closes, but you don't walk around sad about it. You try to ride as many rides as you can.

The emotional stories all land on hope and action, and the laughs keep the room light. The goal is urgency without panic: clarity, not fear.

07What's the research behind it?

Every keynote is built on a study of 20,589 people about their dreams, fears, and regrets. A few findings I share from the stage:

  • 77% said their lives were not successful, almost all because of things they kept putting off. Not wrong action. Inaction.
  • Fewer than 1% said they'd have no regrets if their life ended today.
  • The number one reason people never did what they most wanted? They just didn't get around to it.
  • When asked what they valued most, not one person mentioned money or possessions. Every answer was about people, shared experiences, and impact.

More of the results are on The Someday Study page.

08How does this help our business?

When people live their best lives, they show up better everywhere. They lead better, collaborate better, and care more about their coworkers and the company's goals. What clients tell me they see afterward:

  • Greater inspiration, motivation, and determination
  • Deeper, more meaningful relationships across teams
  • Better communication, collaboration, and innovation
  • A culture people love and don't want to leave

Planners book this keynote for motivation and goal setting, burnout, retention, workplace belonging, and change.

He connected with each person in our audience regardless of their age, job type, or life circumstances. He held the attention of the audience for the full hour he spoke, which is not a small feat given he spoke at 8:30 a.m. after attendees had an offsite event the night before.

Is It Right For Us?

Audiences, industries, and where the talk fits in your agenda.

09Who is this keynote for?

Any audience of busy people who are good at their jobs and quietly putting things off. That's almost everyone. I've spoken for:

  • Financial services: Deloitte (8 times), JPMorgan Chase, Prudential, Allianz, the American Bankers Association, Hilltop Securities, and Total Wealth
  • Sales teams and kickoffs: Prolifics, Tangram Interiors, Alchemy Sales
  • Associations and conferences: MERS of Michigan, the Association of Water Technologies, Ragan Communications, United Way
  • Global brands: Amazon, Google, Cigna, Mars, Alibaba, Delta Air Lines, Spotify

From a leadership team to more than 2,000 people.

10Will it land with an analytical or skeptical crowd?

Yes. A lot of my rooms are finance, accounting, and banking leaders. Deloitte has booked me 8 times, and Hilltop Securities has brought me back multiple times. Total Wealth, a wealth advisory firm, told me it was the first standing ovation in their event's history.

Skeptics respond to the data and to the honesty. I'm not selling a perfect life. I'm sharing what worked, what didn't, and one small step to take this week.

11Should Joe open or close our event?

Both work. As an opener, the talk sets an energetic, action-focused tone for everything after it. As a closer, it sends people home on a high with a plan.

If I had to pick, I'd always choose closer. After an information-filled event, people truly benefit from getting lost in a story that gives them the action and energy to do something with everything they learned.

12Do you customize the talk?

Every time. We start with a call to learn your audience, your theme, and what you want people to do differently afterward. Then I tailor the stories, examples, and exercises to your industry and goals.

If your event has a theme, I'll build the talk around it. If your decision-makers want a feel for the message first, I'm happy to record a short video just for them.

Joe's message of bold, imperfect action hit home in a big way. His performance led to the first standing ovation in the history of our annual expo.

Talks + Formats

Talks, length, workshops, virtual, books, and time with your people.

13Which talks do you offer?
  • Make Someday Today: my flagship keynote. Build urgency, overcome fear, and create a culture of action.
  • The "Other" AI: Action + Intention: the human-centered keynote for AI-themed events. After all the tools are explained, this is the talk that gets people to use them.

I also deliver versions focused on leadership, burnout, change, and purpose-driven business, plus the workshops below.

14How long is the keynote?

Most keynotes run about 45 to 50 minutes. I also have tighter versions for shorter slots, and we can add breakouts or a workshop for a deeper dive.

15Do you offer workshops or breakouts?

Yes. Options include 45 to 60 minute breakouts, half-day workshops, and full-day workshops. For one sales team, I followed a 50-minute keynote with a 90-minute hands-on action lab.

Workshops put the tools to work as a team: Treasure Maps, time audits, accountability partners, and a shared board where goals move from "Dreaming" to "In Progress" to "Done." Ask us for detailed formats.

16Can you deliver virtual keynotes?

Yes. I have a home studio with a full green screen, built for virtual keynotes. I've delivered virtual sessions to audiences of more than 1,500 people for some of the biggest companies in the world. They're highly entertaining and produced to capture and hold attention, even in a virtual format.

17Can we get books for our attendees?

Yes. Experiential Billionaire, co-written with Bridget Hilton, is a bestseller translated into five languages and the perfect companion to the keynote. Many clients order copies for their attendees. We can ship books directly to your venue, and I'm happy to sign them.

18Will you stay after the talk?

I'm not a fly-in, fly-out speaker. I'm glad to join a meet and greet, lunch, or reception, and to connect with members after the event. People often want to share their someday list afterward, and that's one of my favorite parts of the day.
